Current Initiatives

  • Operation of the Redwater Creek Railway on the first weekend of every month, daily running for the first two weeks after Christmas and on special running events and group bookings as required.
  • Organising and developing SteamFest on the long weekend in March as an annual attraction on the site. Many shopkeepers in Sheffield report record takings during the SteamFest weekend.
  • Development of the Sheffield Station to include a boutique coffee shop/souvenir outlet until alternative more permanent arrangements are made.
  • Support for and development of the Men’s Shed facility on the site to increase community usage of the site. Support is being provided on the basis of developing a long term ongoing support arrangement.
  • Development of a pioneer village/display area based on Mrs Bronwyn Rayner’s collection of equipment from Taggerty in Victoria.
  • Develop a tourist souvenir sales outlet, café, ticket sales, amenities building and display areas for locally produced crafts and all forms of vintage equipment.
  • Training new locomotive drivers to allow an increase in the number of operating days.
